Overcoming stereotypes

Copyright: Not my image, copied from Pointe Magazine

Not my wording, copied from Pointe Magazine article:
At 5' 10.5", Sara Michelle Murawski stands taller than most people, let alone most ballerinas. As a student, Murawski was always told her height was a positive thing, and that elongated lines are what ballet is all about. But in the professional world in the U.S., she encountered a totally different mentality. Her story went viral last December, when she was fired from Pennsylvania Ballet for being "too tall."

Read this truly inspirational article here:

In a world full of body positivity, attempts to stop the stereotypes and judgements towards fat shaming, race discrimination and even gender discrimination, may we never forget the support anyone can need, even for height.
May we be reminded of the purpose of my blog and movement #InspireBallet. This is it, “ [I am] a ballerina that believes ballet can inspire. No size, colour, race, religion, age, or gender is beyond that inspiration. If you have the desire and passion it's never too late. “
Please share your thoughts by blog post or by email on: dancegrace2@gmail.com

Love to all xx
