I decided to make small changes because sometimes when u look at everything that needs work, changing, or fixing in your life you can get overwhelmed. I decided to drink about 800ml of water a day (it's a small start but it's more than I used to drink). It's taken some dedication and a spoon or two of lemon juice just to perk up the taste but i don't feel as thirsty throughout the day, I feel more awake and energetic and I can imagine the stress I put my body under due to dehydration is lifted.
When I'm dancing it's easy to drink lots of water, especially me as I sweat a lot but it's important to remember hydration is vital for our health, lifestyle, and most importantly to our bodies all the time not just in exercise periods.
Here are a few ideas to perk up your water drinking routine or to help you ease yourself into drinking more.
Sparkling water can be something different, cool the water then you can add mint leaves, lime wedges, lemon,or even orange wedges.
Some prefer chilled water, so ice cubes in your water can help, I personally don't like my water freezing cold, it must be out the fridge and stand till perspiration is on the outside of the bottle making it just right in cool temperature.
Fruit infused water can help add vitamins and make it easier and fun to drink, fruit infusing bottles are available on various sites online and you can get various fruit combination ideas on Pinterest for instance.
Remember wherever you are, your tap water may not always be the best to drink so Brita for instance has filtration water bottles. You can buy their replacement filters every month or so to replace, BPA or glass water bottles are my recommendation as they give nothing off into your water and retain no germs, but remember what ever you use a good clean with dish soap is recommended often and rinse it well or you will taste the soap in your water! I also recommend leaving the bottle to drip dry for a while.
The longest debate is how much water to drink for your weight, active lifestyle etc. Whatever you decide to do you at the end of the day know your body the best, but do take into account your water, hot beverages or other cold beverages all add up to be your fluid intake daily, so what works for you is what I suggest. Make sure not to over hydrate as then you start to flush out your body's vitamins, minerals and goodness and that can be just as bad as dehydration.
