Dance bags of the happy dancer

Leg warmers, warm up skirts or practise tutu's, pointe shoes and toe pads- seems simple enough to fit into a reasonably sized dance bag? Well not exactly, as there is usually a cardigan or coat for after dance classes, other shoes to change into after, food and depending on the duration of classes that can sometimes alone cater to two meals and snacks as well. Let's not forget the little accessories dancers are known for like mini sewing kits, the endless hair stuff we need, and the litres of water and drinks we consume during a class or rehearsal.

The dancers life isn't simple and as our dance bags suggest we have very full, yet very happy lives! Even with the occasional sore muscles, foot soaks and massages needed we are as colourful and full to overflowing as our bags.
I am not technically a big lover of the colour yellow but I have a soft yellow and grey, good looking fake leather dance bag, and yes its HUGE even when empty. It on the other hand is very special, it was bought in a very happy time in my life, it was on a ludicrous sale and was bought in one of my favourite shops, Zara. It's sat there in the dance class on so many happy occasions absorbing my art and at other times held the sweaty pointe shoes that worked very hard through the frustrations and harder exercises. The stories our dance bags carry I believe are sometimes more personal and more sentimental than our normal handbags at times; for they know of joy, hard work, pain and they carry and hold the signs of our happy and full lives!

I will always hold a dancers bag in high regard and equally with the same amount of curiosity, I would always love to hear their stories and see how worn and loved they look.
Share your dance bag stories, even better send a picture! You are welcome to post on my blog or send an email on dancegrace2@gmail.com

Love to all x
